Liturgy of the Word for Children Thomas and Karen Maddock The purpose of the Children’s Liturgy of the Word is to help our children develop their relationship with God through a better understanding of His Word and thus allowing full and easier participation in the Eucharistic celebration. The Liturgy of the Word is not catechesis but formation. This is not about “dismissing” the children from the assembly, it is about truly including them. It is about meeting the needs of preadolescent children ages 4—9/10. The Children’s liturgy takes place at the 10:30 a.m. Mass. |
